In Marine Corps boot camp we endured hours of close order drill (marching) on the parade field. I thought I was doing fine until one day one of our drill instructors came along beside me and, rather than yell at me like he did at the other recruits, whispered in my ear, “You are a half step out of time with everyone else”. I was thinking about that this morning and how it sort of summarizes my life. I have gone through life thinking I must be okay and then suddenly, at the age of 67, learning that I am not.
